Drive your car sparingly
Last Updated: 11:34 GMT 09/07/2007
Road transport accounts for around a quarter of UK CO2 emissions - yet 42 per cent of journeys are less than two miles!!!
If everyone chose to walk, cycle or use public transport for these two miles we would cut carbon emissions by a huge amount. Not to mention the £££’s saved in fuel and car costs!
If you must use a car, investigate the possibility of car-sharing. Or, when buying a new car, choose the most fuel efficient model available. Better still, why not purchase a car powered by alternative fuels?
Here are the top ten most fuel efficient cars:
Toyota Prius
Honda Civic Hybrid
Toyota Aygo
Citroen C1
Peugeot 107
Smart Fortwo
Lexus GS 450h
Lexus RX400h
Saab 9-5 BioPower
Ford Focus FFV
Garages that sell biodiesel can be found at: www.biodieselfillingstations.co.uk/
And, don’t forget, if you buy a car powered by alternative fuels you pay no road tax! Live in London and you pay no car parking charges and no congestion charge! That’s not to mention the £££’s you save on petrol……
