Britain Ahead with Currys
British electrical retailer,
Currys, takes the lead bringing solar power to high street outlets for the first time.
Solar panels, one of the most popular forms of renewable energy, will be available off-the-shelf.
An installed system for a three bed-roomed house costs roughly £9000. However, the system is said to cut bills in half and consumers can apply for government grants for up to £2,500.
The saving is clear, considering the average annual household electricity bill rose to £338 last year with British electricity suppliers charging customers for the cost of national carbon credits.
Currys’ shoppers are offered an in-store consultation, as well as a free property appraisal to determine its suitability for solar energy.
An alternative to solar power that is proving economical is wind power. Ecotricity is currently the main supplier.
