Britain: Full of Wind
The UK holds nearly half of Europe’s wind resource. There is no shortage of
it. In fact, there is enough to power our country three times over.
Household electricity and gas bills have risen by roughly six percent since
last year, largely due to British electricity suppliers charging customers
for national carbon credits imposed on them by Government. In this climate,
renewable wind energy comes as a breath of fresh air.
Wind power holds numerous benefits. It potentially opens up a highly
profitable industry for Britain (especially as the need for clean energy
sources becomes more pressing). It is the most economical renewable
energy for consumers, is ecologically friendly and deeply green. Most tellingly,
it produces no carbon emissions.
One company that has tapped into this wealth with the aim of fighting
climate change is
Ecotricity. They are the world’s first renewable energy
company.
Dale Vince, Ecotricity creator and the managing director, claims: ‘Burning
fossil fuels to make electricity is the biggest cause of climate change
today… not everybody realises the biggest thing you can do is also the
easiest.’
With clients like Sainsbury’s, Ford, Body Shop, Co-Op Bank and of course,
GoCarbonFree, Ecotricity is the largest alternative electricity supplier in
Europe.
However, this is an energy solution for not just the large, wealthy
corporations. Ecotricity offers household rates to match, if not beat, your
current electricity suppliers.
Making the switch is really easy. You can simply go online, fill in your
details (the person whose name appears on accounts will need to do this) and
your bills will arrive from your new, green supplier.
Notably, unlike many commercial companies, Ecotricity ploughs its profit
back into building new sources of green energy.
